Hi i have tree children and two of them. My twins, are suffering from the same thing. We have tried three different creams and nothing is working. I am at the point that i wish i could pick them off. On one of my girls she has one on her leg that has swollen up like a pimple and has a head on it. first time. Does this condition worsen with years or what. Any advice would be awesome.
My two year old has the same problem and the dr recommend we don't do anything until she gets older. Her face gets really red because of the bumps and was wondering if anyone has used any cream on a toddler that helps.
My Oldest son had this when he turned about 2 and has had it ever since. He is about to turn 13. Since toddler age it has been about the same except now it is redder and his skin feels more like sand paper. It has been quite a harsh winter so I notice it much more. I always wondered what it was and the doctors never took notice of it as a problem. I finally decided to do some research and see that this is exactly what he has had pretty much all of his life. It is quite a relief to know that it is not threatening. However, I do believe at trip to the dermatologist will be in the near future.
I'm 32 male and have had the same condition as long as I can remember. I would say I have severe KP. It covers most of my body except my back, face and neck, upper arms, back of knees, and some of my feet. I was 30 when I found out what it is. Also, I have Pearly Penile Papules. During the summer months it gets better, but get chapped and dry during the winter and I lose most of my body hair. Well, I've tried many (many, many) different creams and exfolients, with little to no success. However, recently, I've been using a skin gel with 3% salicyclic acid (Dermarest) at Walgreens. Its the best thing I've ever used. Within a few days I saw dramatic results. There is still discoloration, but the skin is much smoother and my body hair has begun to regrow.
Hi, I have a son who just turned two today and,was just diagnosis with KP. Three weeks ago red itchy bumps appeared on his thighs, lower legs, and upper arms. My daugther who is know 9 was diagnosis with eczema as a baby. Since, her diagnosis I have to use dove soap, eucerin lotion, and give her luke warm baths or showers(so, her skin would not dry out) and keep the humidity level in the house normal to high. Now I use dove soap, eucerin lotion, give my son baths in lukewarm water, and use hydrocortisone 2.5% cream twice a day on the affected areas (morning and night to stop the itchness). Now, I can tell a difference in his skin. He does not whine about his skin being itchy, and there are less bumps and reddness.
Hi, do you find that topical lotions are too harsh for your children such as AmLactin and Cortol-20? I'm using these lotions right now and would like to know how it affects toddlers. You can find my block at Keratosis Pilaris Treatments
I have it to it is horrable. Mine itches like crazy and I have tryed many lotions and non worked. I am only 11 and mine looks exactly like that Toddlers!
Hey guys, im 20 and have a two year old son, i didnt get KP till i was pregnant. My son has it now on his upper arms as well, but isnt too bad just a few bumps here and there. I have it on my upper arms and have tried so many different things to get rid of it. my KP isnt red, i just have the bumps on my upper arm and during winter i get them on my lower arm too.. it does get worse in the winter.. i didnt know what it was till actually now when i googled it, anyone have any suggestions on what they have tried??
I have had this since I was a baby. Mine started like these pictures, but then the bumps began to redden. This can be hereditary, my 3 year old daughter suffers from the same condition. We both get bumps on our thighs, back of arms, and bottoms. I also get cracked hands and heels. We find it soothing to apply baby oil after bathing, while still wet. Then pat dry. This can be very ithcy and painful if skin gets dry. I remember crying as a child and my skin would bleed sometimes. It DOES improve with aging though! I also find that when I tan, or am out in the sun it helps so much that you can barely see the bumps.
My daughter is 4 and she has had KP very bad for the past year. She developed it in the winter and we have been battling it ever since. Her Pediatrician recommended using plain Vaseline right after she bathes. It works. Before that we used Eucerin's, which worked but made her itchy and burned.
